Montes uses first-class bovine leather and chrome-free vegetable dyes in an ethical manner. The leathers are carefully cleaned, dehaired, and preserved with salt; then dyed with tannins from oak galls, quebracho, mimosa, and chestnut bark to achieve durability, flexibility, and rich color.
