Montes uses first-class bovine leather and chromium-free vegetable dyes in an ethically sound manner. The leathers are carefully cleaned, dehaired, and preserved with salt; then dyed with oak, quebracho, mimosa, and chestnut bark tannins to gain durability, flexibility, and rich color. The leathers are left as natural as possible, semi-finished at the tannery, and hand-dyed with natural dyes. They offer a shiny, long-lasting surface.
