Montes uses first-class bovine leathers and chrome-free vegetable dyes in an ethically compliant manner. The leathers are carefully cleaned, dehaired, and preserved with salt; then they are dyed with tannins from oak galls, quebracho, mimosa, and chestnut bark to gain durability, flexibility, and rich color.
